…with a flower in her hair.
On Trend: Mixing Patterns.
I’m not always a fan of trends, for example, I hate Harem Pants for the most part. Clogs: Not my thing.
But this mixture of the patterns idea I can get use to. I met this young lady on Broadway near Prince street and found she was from San Diego.
Fashion + Gaga
Broadwayvogue readers! Hello, I had an amazing experience last friday. I saw Miss Lady Gaga herself perform at Madison Square garden. She is quite the performer, and was not dissapointing at all!
Do you know what also wasn’t disapointing? The “Fashion”.
We all know that Lady Gaga has a unique style and way of doing things, well these above concert goers decided to pay hommage to GAGA and try out some of her known fashion looks.
Enjoy!

Charming Dumbo
I ran into these charming fellas in Dumbo the other day. I did one of my classics: do a double take, run after fashionable person, introduce my self and ask to take a photo.
I love the plaid coat with the bermuda shorts. The cut of the short is what I particularly like, the length and fit keep the outfit together. I must venture down under the Manhattan bridge more often!
Laces & Stripes
I ran info this lovely lady as we were both gazing into a street pop up art gallery in Dumbo. I loved that she matched lace with stripes.
Lace skirt with a horizontal stripped shirt tucked in and little black booties to match. To add to the look she has some interesting hand jewelry and [my favorite] red lipstick.

The perfect shade of red
Dior vs. Nars
Can I tell you guys something? I found the perfect red lipstick. I mean, I am in LOVE with this lipstick. I’ve been on a hunt to find it, and I did! See at first I was mistaken, and I thought Dior’s luscious red lipstick was the one for me. After much consideration, and a swift change of heart, I settled on “Red Lizard” by Nars. It’s a semi matte red lipstick, that I think fits me best. Red is obnoxious enough, I don’t believe it needs a shine too. So the semi matte finish was what looked best. Above are some photos of me trying the different lipsticks on at Sephora (Thanks Vishwani for the secretive snaps!) and the last photo is me at a wedding this past weekend wearing my brand new Nars lipstick.
What are some of your favorite lipstick brands/shades/styles? I am DYING to know!
[Ps. Don't forget to enter below for our Brolicdesigns shoe giveaway! It ends June 30th, 2010!! ]
Brolic Designs: Rafael Colon
I am really excited to introduce everyone to my most recent artist. He’s talented, full of energy and has a knack for making people feel good!
Meet: Rafael Colon
He’s not your ordinary artist. More like a shoe magician. He can create unique designs and customer’s likes come to life. Your favorite team, a funky pattern or a fun cartoon character…Rafael has the skills to make your idea walk.
q- How long have you been drawing/painting?
He’s been drawing for as long as he can remember and has brought his designs to life in the form of sneakers for the past year and a half.
q- What do you get your ideas/inspiration from?
Since his daughter was the first person to inspire him to start drawing on shoes, he finds inspiration and ideas from her. {She had the coolest Lady Gaga themed Converse’s on her feet} But also from the customers, and designs shoes based on what they want.
q-What type of demographic are you going for?
“Everyone” and he means it. Rafael has an open mind. As he mentioned to me, whatever the customer wants, he will make. From shoes for 8 year girls to Doc Martens for Rockstars, he can create it.
q- Where does the name Brolicdesigns come from?
“I was in an elevator and this kid said to me, ‘your brolic’. I had never heard that term before but I knew I liked it.” “I kept it in the back of my head, and when this started, Brolic designs is what I went with”. A brolic or “jacked up” sneaker.
q-What’s one of your favorite designs?
” They are all good, because they are all different.” He explained that each sneaker he designs is a completely original look. He won’t recreate the exact shoe twice.
q-Take me through the process from idea to final outcome?
This one is interesting. Rafael receives an idea or concept from his customer, he then comes up with what he will create on the spot, and will free hand draw on the shoe. There is no turning back with Rafael’s designs. Not only does his artistic capability come in handy, but his on the spot imagination helps create a one of a kind product.
q- What do you use on the shoes to ensure the design stays?
For the canvus sneakers like Vans or Converse he uses fabric markers and for the leather surfaces he uses acrylic.
q- I love the concept, What more do you want to do with your talent? Expansion with tee-shirts or additional fabrics?
Rafael told me”everyone is doing tee-shirts” he wants to stick to shoes. He wont stop there though, he just recently started designing on leather shoes and experiments with different shoe surfaces and styles. He is also becoming more involved including designing shoes for “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” and donating shoes to “Graffiti Beach“.
q- What if we want a pair of Brolicdesign shoes?
Rafael says to email him what you would like. An idea, design or pictures and he will personally communicate with you from there. Prices, shoe style, and design will all be discussed when in contact with him. EMAIL: recolon2458@brolicdesigns.com

Meg’s Summer Must-Have: Gray Nails
Welcome Guest Blogger: MEGHAN BUTLER
She’s a fellow fashionista, New Yorker, and a wonderful writer. You can read all about her, and follow her wise, funny and informative words over at her blog.
————————————————————————————————————————————–
A few weeks ago I attended a wonderful blogger event at Coach with some show-stoppingly stylish ladies. It was intimidating to say the least! My head was spinning with inspiration when I left – I had to stop and write my ideas down! One trend I noticed and instantly fell for was gray fingernails and hot pink toe nails. I know this isn’t exactly cutting-edge (this trend has been going on for a while) but actually seeing it worn by real life fashionistas was enough to convert me from skeptic to full on obsessed.
I’m currently rocking Essie’s “Chinchilly”
Now take some notes from celebs spotted rocking this trend:
Posh teaches us that gray nail polish can be classy – just add a Birkin:
I’m loving this shade that Alessandra Ambrosio was snapped wearing. It’s a bit darker and seems to have some red or brown undertones – would be perfect for fall! Does anyone know who makes it?:

Seal and Heidi prove that gray polish is a family affair (The shade Seal is rocking is actually almost exactly the one I have on. I feel uh..honored.
